Offering an unlimited variety of water sports, there is an amazing availability of services, accommodations, dining, and entertainment opportunities along with this, the largest freshwater chain in the world.
At the north end are the eight lakes in Eagle River. The largest lake is Catfish Lake at 1,012 square acres with a maximum depth of 30 feet. The smallest lake is Lynx Lake at 22 acres, with a maximum depth of 20 feet, and is the most north lake on the chain.
The entire chain is famous for great fishing, especially the prized Muskellunge. There are tournaments held throughout the summer and in the winter for ice fishing. Other popular species that are in these waters are trout, walleye, smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and all varieties of panfish.
While the chain is in the heart of vacationland, none of the lakes are congested. Whether staying at a well-appointed resort with all the amenities or camping lakeside, you are sure to find a place to stay for a perfect visit.
The housing opportunities are vast – from a cozy cottage to a sprawling, luxurious home - it’s all here. A second home or a place to relocate, there is everything here to make for an unforgettable vacation or a dream lifestyle.
