A new way to Independence Day in 2020

Without a doubt, we all could use a little celebrating. While caution is still being urged, here are a few events celebrating the birth of our country that should put smiles on loads of faces in the Northwoods.
St. Germain, like other Northwoods towns, will be putting a different spin on its Independence Day celebration. As we all know, parades throughout the area have been canceled.
A private group of individuals formed the St. Germain Committee, LLC. They are sponsoring an Independence Day celebration that will be held at the park behind the Chamber of Commerce building Sunday, June 28 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Featured are music, free food, activities, and games for the children and bags of candy for them as well.
Also on Sunday, the Town of St. Germain sponsors their spectacular Independence Fireworks beginning at dusk. This year the display will concentrate on aerial eye-poppers to spread viewership.
Eagle River has canceled their Party in the Street, their parade, and the evening fireworks. However, Harry’s Fireworks will be hosting a fireworks show at the Eagle River Speedway Tuesday, June 30 at 10:00 p.m. (rain date Wednesday, July 1).
Admission is free and no carry-ins are allowed as there will be full concessions on the grounds. Harry’s invites everyone to join the party at 7:30 p.m. It promises it to be EPIC! (no races)
Phelps came up with a new event that works perfectly with our Stay Safe practices
Beginning at 7:00 p.m., on July 4, the Phelps Chamber of Commerce will host the first annual Boat Parade and Fireworks show. The parade will depart the Millerville Lane Boat landing, (just off Hwy 17 in Phelps) go around the lake along the shoreline through downtown Phelps, and end at Dublin Sports Bar and Grill.
Those who wish to participate in the parade are asked to register their boats by calling the Chamber at 715-545-3800 or visit their website, or email the Chamber at chamber-office@phelpswi.us.
Following the parade, there will be fireworks and boats are encouraged to stay to watch the show. Land spectators will be able to view the fireworks from several areas.
In Conover, while the traditional events are canceled, why not take in a Chain Skimmer Water Ski Show? The show is on July 4 at 7:00 p.m. on Lake Pleasant at 5280 Hwy 45 North, Conover. For more information and details, visit their website.
In Land O’Lakes, what could be more patriotic than donating to a Veteran’s organization on the 4th of July? Veterans will host diners at the Pine Cone Cafe from 8:00 a.m.until 1:00 p.m. Tips, donations, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Land O’Lake Veterans Center. Veterans will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets.
Then at 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. enjoy a chilly ice cream cone or sundae at the Pine Cone Cafe’s Ice Cream Social.
These are the major events that celebrate Independence Day 2020. To say this is a memorable year goes without saying. Have a wonderful Holiday!
