The Albatross Grill - after a great round or anytime

The Albatross – quality, relaxed dining

As businesses reopen and attempt to regain a touch of normalcy, we are fortunate to welcome another new dining establishment to Eagle River.

The Albatross Grill is located at the Eagle River Golf Course and is being run by the team from Catch 22. Justin O’Dell is picking up the gauntlet to manage this establishment featuring great food at fair prices. He describes the menu as simple but offering a little bit of everything at a reasonable price.

The Albatross Grill also offers vegan and vegetarian selections including a veggie burger that tastes like a real meat burger. In addition to the in-restaurant dining, enjoy the beauty of the golf course with your meal on their patio.

Understandably, trying to open a new restaurant during this time has unique challenges.

“The main challenge is diners in general. It seems like people out here at the course are enjoying their outside time. I don’t know if it is a factor because they have been cooped up so long and they are still not sure about coming in and sitting down at the restaurant,” he observed.

“The other thing that is affecting everyone across the country is the beef costs. Some of the food distributors are having problems getting certain foods in. It’s a constant juggle trying to figure what the best product we can bring in is and still give people a fair price.”

The Albatross Grill opened its doors Monday, May 18 offering a full bar and full menu selections. Before the official opening, beer was available to the golfers.

“We want to offer a fish fry and nightly specials but that is going to depend upon foot traffic inside the restaurant,” O’Dell said.

O’Dell said that their happy hour is gaining popularity. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a dollar off taps, domestic beers, rails, and house wine. The best part, says O’Dell, is the half-price appetizers.

Among the appetizer selections are cheese curds, their popular boneless Jacked-up wings that come bathed in one of their three flavors of the signature Jack Daniels sauces, Sloppy Joe loaded potato skins, haystack onion tanglers and more.

The Albatross is open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. O’Dell said that these hours may expand once they get a dinner crowd established.

Looking for a place to hold a party? Consider the Albatross Grill. The dining room seats 85 people with additional facilities that can accommodate larger groups. Dining choices are available from the Catch 22 catering menu.

This is a great place to bring your group for a fun round of golf followed by a truly delicious meal.

O’Dell wants the public to know that “We’re here, we’re open and we are taking measures as far as being safe. We know these are strange times. We know it’s financial stress times for some. We have fair prices and we have a great environment and I think, golfing or not, we are a great destination to come out for lunch.”
