Find the magic in Northwoods Holidays!
November is here and it’s the time when area communities and organizations host Holiday events, fairs, and bazaars. These events are the perfect way to find just the right decorations, gifts and food to set that special Holiday mood.
The season’s first fair is Nov. 2 at Lakeland Union High School from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The Tis’ the Season Craft Show is sponsored by the LUHS Model UN Club.
The Craft Show will be held in the Lakeland Union Commons. In addition to the crafts, there will also be concessions and a bake sale.
The following Saturday, Nov. 9 at the St. Germain Community Building, from 10:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. it’s the St. Germain Christmas Bazaar. This annual event gets better every year with new vendors offering great gift and food ideas.
The St. Germain Elementary School PTO will be selling evergreen Christmas wreaths and garlands. Get there early to make sure you get the perfect decoration. They sell quickly!
The little ones will love to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus. Bring your camera to capture an enchanting Holiday moment. The Clauses will be at the Bazaar from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Some new booths at the Bazaar include Gourmet DipKits, a variety of dips made fresh at home. Stop at Stuff-N-Luv to pick out a favorite animal to fluff, stuff, and love!
Shop at the dozens of craft booths for unique and beautiful handcrafted items. Browse the jewelry, dolls, food items, Christmas decorations, knitted apparel and so much more.
Getting hungry? Grab a sandwich or a drink at the kitchen window — perhaps a Christmas cookie?
Another stop that requires an early start is the St. Germain Women’s Service Club and the Sayner-St. Germain Fish & Wildlife Club at their annual Bake Sale. Take home a dessert for that night or a sweet treat for breakfast. So many goodies — such a hard decision!
Head to the Gourmet Gift Corner and shop the several varieties of cranberry wines from Lake Nokomis Cranberries of Eagle River. Quality baked goods, cheeses, foods, candies and more are offered by local companies.
While at that end of the building, buy raffle tickets to win one of the dozens of impressive prize buckets. Winning tickets will be drawn throughout the day.
This annual event is the ideal kick-off for everyone’s Christmas season. It’s the perfect shopping location for all things Christmas!
The Eagle River Business Association and the Eagle River Main Street Program invites the ladies to join in the Wi-Does Wine Walk on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 1:00 p.m. util 5:00 p.m. Be sure to get your $25 tickets early as there is a limited number available.
Tickets may be purchased online or at the Arrow Gift Shop, Fredricks Corner Shoppe or mBank. These businesses are all located on Wall St.
Participants will get the opportunity to sample up to 15 different wines in their event wine glass. There will be a red and a white wine featured at each of the more than 15 participating shops.
Along with the wine, there are coupons for shopping as well as a map showing the locations of the stores. Wi-Does will also get a punch card and a wristband.
Bag pick up and registration is the day of the event at the VFW between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. All participants must be at least 21 and identification with proof of age is required. New this year, the Designated Driver $10 tickets are available at the VFW at the check-in. An insulated beverage holder is substituted for the wine glasses while supplies last.
While shopping and sipping at the wine stops, climb aboard the horse-drawn wagon for a jolly ride. Make sure to pick up an entry form when you make a purchase. These entry forms give you a chance to win one of the bundles of gift certificates and the Grand Prize.
Also new this year is the after-party at the New Buckshots Downtown. At 6:00 p.m. the drawing will be held for the gift certificates and the Grand Prize. A bonus entry ticket will be given to all who attend. Join in the fun and replenish yourself on the delicious appetizers for sale at the party.
It’s time to get in the mood and enjoy the magic of this special season in the Christmas-y Northwoods of Wisconsin.
