Meet Fredrick's Corner Shoppe
Shopping should be fun and there is a new store in Eagle River that has merchandise that is unique and entertaining for local and visitor tastes alike.
Fredrick’s Corner Shoppe opened its doors last year in the Town and Country building on Wall St.
In speaking with Lori Schubring, store manager, this is a very eclectic boutique with a genuine emphasis on fun. The store carries an amazing variety of goods.
“I love it,” said Lori, enthusiastically describing the shop. “The store is about 1,300 square feet. We are considered a boutique but yet we have some children’s items, some men’s items. We have clothing … funny towels … jewelry … fragrances … lotions … kitchen items. There are so many different kinds of items that we have crammed into this little space that you have to do three or four laps around the store to see it all!
“Right now we have this little catalog. There are coupons in the back. There are $2 coupon off a $10 purchase or a free artificial cactus, valued at $7.99 if you spend $20. The catalog is on the Facebook page. Watch for this catalog in your mail if you live locally.
“I always have things like this going on. Or my candy is on sale. Things change a lot here. I don’t have the same ole same ole all the time. It is constantly changing just to keep things fresh.
“I have a lot of new garden items that have just come in, she continued. “I do have dog and cat pillows that are a foot high and those are so super cute and they are on Facebook.
“I have a lot of new summer dishware coming in. I have so many things in here!”
Fredrick’s Corner Shoppe is the seventh store that is part a family-owned business based in Milwaukee. The founder is Larry Albrecht, a pharmacist who opened a small Hallmark store 40 years ago and that is called Fredrick’s Hallmark.
There are now five stores in Milwaukee and one in Oshkosh. Larry is semi-retired and the business is being run by his two daughters Gina and Deanna and two grandsons, Jake and Josh.
Lori loved being a manager for one of the stores and said she heartbreakingly left two years ago to follow their dream of moving up to Eagle River.
“I was here about a year and a half and stayed in touch with all of them. They said. ‘Lori, what about opening a store up here - not a Hallmark store, but why don’t we open a boutique and you can run it.'" The store opened May 13 last year.
Not surprisingly, Lori loves coming to work and her enthusiasm for the boutique is contagious.
“There is no other store like this in Eagle River,” said Lori. “We are really a different mix. The locals that come in say, ‘Wow! I really didn't know you would have this kind of merchandise in here. I thought it was more of a touristy T-shirt shop. I am amazed and I am blown away how much stuff you have in here and how much I like it all!’” Lori retold.
Currently, Fredrick’s Corner Shoppe is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Be sure to check out their Facebook page. Coming soon — their website! Soon you will be able to order your favorite items online!
