Hunting widows, wine and winterland shopping

Less than two days away and the 2017 Deer gun Hunt begins. Saturday, at the crack of dawn, hundreds of thousands of hunters will crisscross the state in pursuit of a prized rack or meat to fill their freezers.

In their stead, hunting widows will find creative ways to fill the empty (cough, cough) hours. Helping out these bereft (cough, cough - again) individuals, Eagle River has scheduled their Widows Wine Walk, a brilliant combination of wine and shopping in Eagle River's downtown.

This event will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., downtown Eagle River. The cost is $20 and is limited to 100 tickets. The price includes a wine glass, sampling of 12-15 wines at various businesses in the downtown area and a bundle of discount coupons. The shops will also feature sales and discounts for the event. Tickets may be purchased at mBank and the Eagle River Main Street Program.

If there are any tickets available on Nov. 18, they will be on sale for $25. This event is sponsored by the Eagle River Business Association and the Eagle River Main Street Program. For more details visit here or call 715-477-0645.

Over in Minocqua, the downtown businesses are hosting "Ladies Night Out" on Friday, Nov. 17 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The shops and stores will feature in-store specials just for this evening and be sure to register to win a gift certificate.
