The month of November explodes with bazaars, craft shows, gift shows, shops and stores welcoming shoppers with all kinds of enticing promotions. Why buy products from China when all your Christmas gift giving can come from local businesses?
The towns go all out to set the stage for Christmas with sparkling decorations that delight children and adults alike. There is no place more magical to spend a family Christmas than in the Northwoods. There are delightful places to take a wintry sleigh ride, see wonderful parades, go to enchanting concerts and more!
And of course, where else can you be pretty sure there will be a white Christmas? All the sports that snow affords are found here. Snowmobiling, ice skating, Nordic and Alpine skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing are all here in abundance. Oh yes — did we mention deer hunting?

Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. head to Boulder Junction for the “7th Annual Great Shopping Escape” at the Community Center. Start Christmas shopping at the various party home businesses featured. This is a great time to visit the shops in Boulder Junction’s beautiful downtown.

On Friday, Nov. 24 it is one of the area’s most magical Christmas Season kickoffs at the 29th Annual Christmas Walk. Bathe in the glow of Christmas lights, cheer the lighting of the Christmas tree, take a sleigh ride, enjoy the delicious treats offered by the shop owners and let the wee ones sit on Santa’s knee.

A sneak peak of the “2018 Blizzard Blast” will be held at the Conover Community Center Monday, Dec. 5 starting at 6:00 p.m. The Dec. 10 episode of “Discover Wisconsin” will be shown.

It’s the Holiday Bazaar & Christmas Cookie Sale at the Kalmar Senior Community Center on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. In addition to Christmas cookie and baked goods on sale, there is a craft show and food on sale.

Not into hunting? Then make sure to be in Eagle River Saturday, Nov. 18 for the “Widow Wine Walk.” Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the walk and can be bought at the Arrow Gift Shop, mBank and the Main Street Program.
Each participant will receive a wine glass, sampling over a dozen wines, a bundle of coupons with a corresponding map of stores that are participating and a raffle ticket to win a chance for a bundle of gift certificates.

The Eagle River Business Association invites everyone to come to the “Christmas Kickoff in Downtown Eagle River,” Saturday, Nov. 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children can walk with Santa Claus then visit with him afterward at the Warehouse Center for the Arts on Railroad St. The whole family will love the sleigh rides.

Santa arrives in all his glory on Friday, Nov. 24, from 1:00 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. He will travel from the Land O’Lakes airport and will travel with the children in a horse-drawn hay wagon to the downtown Christmas Tree. There will be hot chocolate, cookies and much more.

Saturday from 8:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m. children can have breakfast (reservations required) with Santa Claus at the Gateway Lodge and visit the deer there from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
