The rain took a pause during the opening ceremony of the 2017 AMSOIL World Championship Snowmobile Derby at Friday Night Thunder. This is the 53rd year for the races in Eagle River that has become one of the premier racing events in the country.

Every year there are thousands that attend the races in Eagle River. There are more than 500 racers participating this year as they compete on the half-mile banked ice track or fly across the SnoX hills.

Friday’s exciting events included Fireworks, the “TRL  Cup Sweet 16” qualifying races and new this year, the Pro Sno Cross qualifying races. Also featured will be the finals races in the 120 CC, Pro Motorcycle classes and round 2 in Snow Bikes, Round 1 in Pro Am Snocross and many more heats.

Fans on Saturday will be able to enjoy some of the warmest temperatures in the history of the races. Due to weeks of hard work preparing the track, the uncommonly warm weather and rain will not interfere with racing.

Saturday’s racing includes the finals in the Snow Bike, 120 Stock, all Junior classes and the Women’s class. In all, there are 52 separate races scheduled, including the qualifying races for Sunday’s Derby Championship race.

Sunday’s premier races will be the Pro Open SnoX Championship race and the AMSOIL World Championship Presented by Country Cat ice oval races. Other races will include the women’s final oval races, junior oval races and Novice SnoX races.

Make sure to drop into the Expo Hall to shop the vendors and enjoy great food and beverages at the Loft. Individual Hot Seats are available for sale for $75. There are also general admission tickets available. Prices available for general admission are available at the gate.
