What are you doing New Year's Eve?
We hope your Christmas was one of your merriest ever! We did get a white Christmas despite some rather dicey weather on the day. Fortunately, there are about 10 inches to about a foot of snow throughout the Vilas and Oneida County areas. Cold temperatures have made the slushy conditions created on Sunday transform into a frozen base and fresh snow is needed.
Looking towards the weekend, we thought you might like some ideas on where to spend New Year’s Eve. Here are a few tried and true locations, as well as a couple of new establishments, inviting everyone to join them in welcoming the New Year!
On Dec. 31, from 3:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., join in on the fun as the Town of Woodruff says goodbye to 2016 at the Red Hot New Year’s Eve Celebration.
This event will be held in the Town of Woodruff grounds and there will be sledding and ice skating all day. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. and lasting until 6:30 p.m. there will be free sleigh rides. Then at 5:00 p.m. warm chilled bones with hot chili, hot dogs, hot chocolate and hot cider. The proceeds from the food sales will go to the Woodruff Beautification fund.
There will also be kids' games and crafts available.
Then at 7:00 p.m., thrill to the Red Hot Fireworks display behind the Woodruff Community building, presented by the Town of Woodruff and the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bring on 2017!
