Time for a BOO-tiful weekend

It’s that time of year for all the ghouls and guys to don freakish garb and set out for a howlin’ good time. For the younger set (and those who chaperone the Trick or Treat escapades) here is information about official local Halloween celebrations.
The Conover Lions Club will host a Halloween Party at the Conover Community Building, 4665 County K, East Conover, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a costume judging contest. There will be food and beverages available.
There are no official times for Trick or Treat in Conover.
There are a few Halloween-themed events on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Eagle River. Click here to learn about the Zombie Fun Run, the Blue Heron Restaurant Haunted Wedding and the 70 East Road House Angels & Demons Halloween Party.
Once school lets out on Monday, Oct. 31, watch out for the little ones and the not-so-little Hob Goblins in Eagle River as they try to max out their candy acquisition. There are no official hours but those dwellings that wish to participate in Trick or Treat, please turn on the front porch light.
Beginning at 3:00 p.m. that day, stop in at the Peter Piper Pumpkin Party and enjoy safe family fun, games, balloon animals and a pumpkin contest. The party ends at 8:00 p.m. This is a benefit for the Safe Haven Homeless Shelter. The party will be held at West Riverview Drive, Eagle River.
Later that day is the 67th Annual Eagle River Lions Club Hallogras Halloween Party at the Northland Pines Middle School Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. There will be hot dogs, cider, milk, juices and ice cream available for children and their parents. All the children will receive a bag of candy.
In addition to the treats, children are invited to participate in organized games with prizes awarded. The Eagle River Lions Club invites children and their parents for a fun and safe Halloween evening. The gym is located at 1700 Pleasure Island Rd., Eagle River, off Highway 45 north.
Land O’Lakes has several options for getting into the “spirit”. The community Trick or Treat is from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30.
There is also a “Trunk or Treat” held at the Ely Memorial Church, 4302 County Rd B, Land O' Lakes, on Sunday, October 30 from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Parish members will be joined by others who will distribute Halloween treats from their vehicle trunks in the church parking lot. Everyone is welcome to participate.
Joining in on Sunday's events, the Land O’Lakes Public Library will have their “Boo Bash” from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will be food, games and Trick or Treat at the library.
On Halloween Day, October 31, Headwaters State Bank invites Trick or Treaters to visit the bank for Halloween fun.
Finally, the Gateway Lodge will host a Halloween Party on Monday, October 31,from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. They invite the public “to dress up and join in.” The costume judging will be at 8:00 p.m.
While in Sayner on Saturday, October 29, Plum Lake Dressage will be hosting a “Bizarre Bazaar in the Barn” - a marketplace event with a Halloween flavor from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
In addition to equine displays, there will be food, beverages, massage information, crafts and jewelry plus much more!
A haunted hayride is featured and starts at 11:00 a.m. and lasts until 3:00 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and there are also group rates available. Proceeds go to Plum Lake Emergency Services.

Sunday, October 30, the Sayner Lions and Lionesses will hold their Annual Halloween Bash at the Sayner Pub.
Community Trick or Treat and the party will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. There will be beverages and pizza served at the Sayner Pub.
The Halloween weekend celebration in St. Germain begins on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the St. Germain Community Building. The Lions will again hold their annual Halloween Party starting at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The official community Trick or Treat will be held on Monday, October 31, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please turn on your front porch light if your home will offer treats.
