This weekend is loaded with popular fall events in the Northwoods and at the head of our list is the “Cranberry Fest” in Eagle River.

Officially, the dates are Oct. 1-2, however, the celebration kicks off on Thursday and Friday with tours of cranberry marshes and wine tasting. The tours leave the Eagle River Chamber and Visitor Center offices on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and at noon. On Friday the tours leave every half hour from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Call 800-359-6315 to make reservations.

Also on Friday, those participating in the “Bog 5K Jog” can register early and pick up their packets from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Riverview Park, across from the Chamber offices.

The Cranberry Fest itself is located at the Vilas County Fairgrounds on Highway 70. However downtown takes part in the celebration and there are shuttles. The shuttles will run between the Fairground and downtown from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. approximately every 20 to 30 minutes.

At the fairgrounds, visitors will get to enjoy everything cranberry - starting with the Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The Arts and Crafts Fair sale runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Fresh cranberries and craisins will be on sale.

All day long, shop the Cranberry Bake Sale, the cranberry food products on sale, drink cranberry beer and don’t miss the “Make a Wish Foundation’s World’s Largest Cranberry Cheesecake”. There will also be non-cranberry infused food products on sale as well.
