Labor Day Weekend 2015
How can it be Labor Day weekend is coming upon us already? This has been such a wonderful summer it’s hard to see it coming to an end. However, our fabulous fall here in the Northwoods is truly something to look forward to — the colors, the fishing tournaments, the fests, — all of it makes autumn here a truly special season.
What is going on up here this weekend?
Manitowish Waters: Want to get a sneak peak of the beginning of the change to the trees’ fall colors? Why not participate in the “MUD RUN — Northwoods Bad Dash”. Saturday, Sept. 5? This four-mile adventure run featuring 12 obstacles along the way, is sponsored by the Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce and the North Lakeland Discovery Center.
The course traverses beautiful Manitowish Waters and the Discovery Center. If you don’t feel like running, come on out and cheer the runners as they maneuver through the obstacles.
At the finish there will be live music, awards, raffles, a beer tent and food. It’s fun for the whole family!
The event begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM. Contact the Manitowish Chamber of Commerce for details on you or your group’s MUD RUN registration fees at 715-543-8488. There is a discount for early registration. The run leaves Manitowish Waters Community Center/Manitowish Waters Town Hall, 217 County Hwy. W, Manitowish Waters.
Minocqua: TJ’s Butcher Block and Northwoods Foods are holding a fundraiser for Lakeland Hospice on Saturday, Sept. 5. The “Pride and Joy Car Show” welcomes all cars, trucks, motorcycles and anything that has wheels. They will be featuring great food, music and raffles from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. TJ’s new location is on Hwy. 51 in front of its former store at 8762 US Highway 51N in Minocqua
Eagle River: It’s a three-for-the-price-of-one type of event. Downtown Eagle River will be hosting its first annual “Labor Day Arts and Crafts Show’ in conjunction with the Downtown Sidewalk Sale and the Sausage Fest being held at Riverwalk Park. It will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
The Sausage Fest is sponsored by the Eagle River Lions Club with the proceeds supporting local projects. The Lions will have all kinds of family oriented fun food and games.
And don't forget WRJO's Polish Bear Plunge at the VFW on Saturday, Sept. 5 beginning at 1:00 PM.
St. Germain: Monday, Sept. 7 is the last day for the flea market in the Community Park from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Rumor has it you can snag some great bargains at this end of the season sale.
