Cranberry Fest 2014 - 35 years of delicious fun!
For the third weekend in a row, visitors and locals can enjoy a fabulous festival that celebrates all that is the Northwoods. October 2 – 5 Eagle River puts on its party face for the 35th Cranberry Fest 2014.
Thursday, October 2, there will be cranberry marsh and Three Lakes Winery tours leaving the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 11:00 and 11:30 AM. On Friday, tours will depart 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Tours on Saturday will depart every 20 minutes from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Sunday tours depart hourly from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Tours are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The Vilas County Fair Grounds are home base for Cranberry Fest Festival Grounds and there are events scattered throughout the Eagle River downtown area. Friday, there is the early bird registration for the Berry Bog Bile and 5K Run registration at Riverview Park from 5:00- 7:00 PM.
On Saturday and Sunday, while they last, the “Make-a-Wish” Largest Cheesecake and cranberry and craisin sales will be available in the heart of the festival grounds on Saturday. Cranberries and craisins will also be sold at the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, and at the corner of Highway 70 and Railroad Street.
The first event is the Pancake Breakfast that will be held at the festival grounds from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning, fitness enthusiasts can burn off those carbs at the Berry Bog Jog that starts at 8:30 AM. Registration for the jog will be held from 7:00 AM – 8:15 AM at Riverview Park. The Berry Bog Bike Ride registration will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM at Riverview Park and the ride leaves the park at 10:30 AM.
Shop to your heart’s content at the Arts and Crafts show held throughout the grounds from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Saturday and 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Sunday. Don’t forget to pick up some yummy baked goods, both days, at the Cranberry Fest headquarters Tent from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Want to take a break from the fairgrounds? Head over to the First Congregational United Church of Christ for their Cranberry Fest Luncheon from 11:00 am until 1:00 PM. After lunch head downtown for the Open Air Antique Market in downtown Eagle River. The market is open from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Other Saturday events held downtown are the Cranberry Fest Book Sale and Video Show and the Lake Country Weavers and Fiber Arts Guild Exhibit. The book sale will be held at at the Olson Memorial Library, 203 N. Main St., from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The exhibit will be at the First Congregational United Church of Christ church from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Family entertainment will be provided by Bill Stevens Entertainment on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. And of course, the FOOD! Look for a great variety of food specialties, with and without cranberries, including Cranberry Wheat Beer crafted by Eagle River’s Tribute Brewing Company and Taphouse. Food booths will be located on the Fest grounds and at Riverview Park.
Sunday is the Arts and Crafts Auction with proceeds funding two scholarships. The auction begins at 11:30 AM.
