While big media outlets focus their attention on the foibles of government agencies in dealing with veterans, locally American Legion Post 114 in Eagle River has stepped up with their own action plan. A two-day event for August 22 and 23 is planned to raise funds in the 2014 Wounded Warriors 3rdAnnual Golf Outing/Fundraiser.
Friday night, August 22, at Eagle Waters Resort, it’s dinner, dancing and more beginning at 6 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tickets for the evening are $30 per person or $50 for couples in advance and can be purchased at sponsors Eagle Waters Resort or First National Bank. Tickets will also be available at the door for $40 per person or $60 per couple.
Dance the evening away to a DJ and live music and participate in winning raffles and prizes.
Saturday, August 23, the Golf Outing 4-Person Scramble kicks off with the flag ceremony and the fly over from 12:45 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.at the Eagle River Golf Course. The shotgun start begins at 1:00 p.m. Registration prior to August 2 is $65 and $75 thereafter. Non-golfing attendee fees are $20. There will be hole prizes, raffles and a silent auction.
The fee includes golfing and a cart, lunch and a hors d’oeuvre reception, hosted by Bill and Andra Draeger, at the Eagle River Country Club. Registration is limited to 30 paid foursomes. There is also a prize for the team wearing the best patriotic attire.
All funds raised will go to the local Wounded Warriors, Camp American Legion and Wound Warriors in Action. Donations are happily accepted and an account has been set up at First National Bank branches in Eagle River, St. Germain, Phelps and Three Lakes.
