Vilas and Oneida Counties encompass the most concentrated fresh-water lake region of the world! Vilas County alone includes over 1,300 lakes plus creeks and rivers for abundant fishing, boating and other water recreation. Hundreds more lakes are located in Oneida County.

Chains of Lakes provide expansive opportunities to explore northern communities by boat, with the Eagle River Chain - Three Lakes Chain having 28 navigable lakes in all!

Other popular lake chains in Vilas and Oneida Counties include the 15-lake Cisco Chain on the Michigan border, 6-lake Minocqua Chain, 5-lake Sugar Camp Chain, 9-lake Manitowish Chain, and the 5-lake Lac du Flambeau Chain of Lakes.
