It was a good day to be in the Northwoods. Away from the cities attacked by hate. A day filled with fear and uncertainty for millions. A day of terror and unspeakable sorrow for the families and friends of thousands who died. A day where incredible heroism was acted out on many fronts.
September 11, 2001 changed the USA for ever. Our period of innocence came to a crashing halt as metal and glass rained from the skies in New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania.
This year is the 15th anniversary of that horrible day. We remember the heroes of that day through the haze of the passing years.
Tomorrow there will be many reminders and breaking hearts caused by those events. Our gratitude goes on unendingly for those who sacrificed everything to help others.
May we never suffer this type of catastrophe again.
