A brief look at 2015
Only a few hours are left of 2015 and it certainly has been a great year! Starting off with a great (though bitterly cold) winter, the snowmobile trails were flush with sleds. Klondike Days saw its final year, the Eagle River Snowmobile Derby celebrated 52 years and the Ice Pond Hockey was another smashing success.
We had a relatively early spring and by the end of March waterways were opening. April saw only one brief snowfall and May opened with Martinis in May! June ended with the celebration of our country’s birthday into the beginning of July.
We ducked the extreme heat of the dog days the end of July and August, though the second annual Color Dash was pretty steamy. The first weekend of September, WRJO hosted its first Polish Bear Plunge along with the VFW and raised money for our Wounded Warriors. A bountiful cranberry harvest was celebrated at the annual Cranberry Fest in Eagle River.
Fall came late this year but still graced the Northwoods with a breathtaking explosion of color. Before we knew it, hunting season was in full swing along with the eagerly anticipated Christmas bazaars, events and festivities.
Christmas is not far behind us and we are an awaxiously awaiting the snow to get this season’s winter activities going in full gear.
We hope you had a prosperous, healthy and memorable 2015! Happy New Year for 2016!
