Showing who the SnoBoss is

For 21 years Doug Olson has been handcrafting SnoBoss Groomers right here in St. Germain. His shop, on Highway 70, is state of the art, allowing Olson to custom design drags for snowmobile clubs and organizations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan.
He began his business after he knew he, “wanted to make a different style drag with five blades and a stiff hitch and different features on it.” Olson explained that the five blades travel through the snow better and the stiff hitch allows the operator to lower or heighten the drag on hitches within a minute.
He said that the, “back pan was designed to not bend and take a heck of a beating!”
The drags come in standard widths from 8 to 10 feet and in the standard 16 to 20 foot lengths. However, he can build a custom size drag. Olson said SnoBoss drags are good all on types of terrain and the number of rudders determines the perfect drag design for a particular area.
Amazingly, Olson builds these meticulous drags by himself and the number of drags he produces annually depends upon how much snow falls in a given year. He said his busy season begins in September when the clubs receive their annual funding.
Olson said his drags are not just used for snowmobiling. He said some ATV organizations are putting used snowmobile grooming equipment to work on the ATV trails.
In keeping with making the trails as perfect as they can be, he also builds a Trail Roller. This equipment is a fantastic tool to prime the trails with the first snowfall, driving the frost deeper. The Trail Roller unit is 9-feet six-inches wide by 12-feet long. The heart of the roller is the steel cylinder, measuring over 8-feet wide. This covers the width of the snowmobile trail and the weight of the cylinder pushes on the snow to make a rock-hard foundation for smoother and longer lasting trails.
Without a doubt, the St. Germain location is perfect for this type of business. “The design of the drag speaks for itself,” said Olson. “The durability of it (SnoBoss Groomers) is why it has been so successful. All available features on the drags sells them.”
